FLOWER ESSENCES
“Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock.”
~Henry Ward Beecher, Star Papers: A Discourse of Flowers
Flowers are used in every culture on the planet to express people’s feelings. In our culture, we use roses to say I love you, lilies and poppies for remembrance. We send flowers to celebrate birthdays, we take flowers to hospitals to say get well soon, or use them to say sorry. They feature at weddings, feasts and funerals. Poets write sonnets about them, painters immortalise them on canvas, we even call our children after them. So it isn’t that surprising that we also turn to them for healing.
“Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you.”
~Edward Payson Rod
Flower essences have the ability to raise our spirits just as the flowers themselves do and as with the flowers, there is an essence for every occasion and every personality whether you are a shrinking violet or a vibrant sunflower, there will be an essence that will help you to make the best of yourself. They have the ability to bring a blast of sunshine into the lives of those who are feeling down, a lift to those who feel flat and gentle comfort to those who need it too.
I use a large range of different sets of essences to treat mental and emotional problems of all sorts as they are so gentle in the way they work. Often after people have taken them, they blossom, like watching a flower bud open to reveal its full beauty. That is why I very often select flower essences with most of the treatments I give.
